Lendon Lee Jackson

Lendon Lee Jackson, 76, passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, MI on September 14, 2020. Len was born on March 16, 1944 in Town Creek, Alabama (Lawrence County) to Elvie Lee Beavers and Ules Alfred Jackson. Len was preceded in death by his wife Myra (Swieringa) Jackson, his father, mother, brother Chester Jackson, and sisters Mildred Lorene (Jackson) Garner and Dorothy Faye (Jackson) Roden. Len worked for General Motors (GM) at the Comstock plant until October 1, 1996 when he retired. Len spent his retirement as a supportive caregiver for his wife Myra as well as enjoying his favorite hobbies of golf and woodworking. Len said that golf and woodworking are similar; they both require concentration, specific skills, and no two projects/games are the same. Len won several golf tournaments, leagues, as well as recorded 2 holes in one. Len also enjoyed working on cars, projects in the yard, 4th of July celebrations, cooking, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Len was a very active member of the Portage/Schoolcraft Fraternal Order Eagles Aerie 3531. Members have shared with family how much they all appreciated Len as he was there for members when they needed and was a “Great guy, that’s the only way to describe Jackson”. Len is survived by his two children Tina (Jackson) Vande Slunt, her husband Derek, and children Noah, Micah, and Jenna; Jeff Jackson, his wife Jenn, and children Payton and Blake. Len also had several nieces and nephews, and his brother-in-law living in Alabama. At his request, no service or visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers Lendon would have wanted donations to be made to Southwest Michigan Hospice or specifically Rose Arbor Hospice or Kairos House Hospice (where his wife Myra was cared for until her passing).
