John Irving Schwencer

John Schwencer passed away on December 30, 2020 at the age of 82. John was born on February 15th, 1938 in Bedford Township, Michigan. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1956 where he played football and basketball. He worked as a millwright at Ralston Purina for 40 years and was active with the United Way and the Union Labor Council. After his retirement he continued to volunteer his time with the United Way and enjoyed many trips to Black Lake with his United Way colleagues. Despite being retired, he worked at Gull Lake View Golf Course to stay busy and be outdoors. He also enjoyed having dinner and spending time with his friends at the casino. Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved girlfriend, Belinda Janson. John had the biggest heart and will be remembered for all the ways he helped others. John was preceded in death by his father Paul, his mother Mabel, and his sisters, Joyce, Mary Bell and Louise. He is survived by his two children, Michael Schwencer and Lori Hewitt, his grandchildren, Stacey Ramsdell (Griffin), Erica Schwencer, Tom Frie (Jamie), and Heather Stiel (Jacob), and two great-grandchildren, Tom Jr. Frie and Sydney Frie. He is also survived by his two brothers Norm and Tom Schwencer and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at a future date when it is safe for friends and family to gather together.
