Jay "Slim" Stull

Jay Stull, better known as Slim., 49, of Portage, MI passed away peacefully at home December 30, 2020. Slim is survived by his wife; Joyce Stull: daughter; Jailyn Stull of Washington, WV: sister; Lisa (Scott) Balderson of Washington, WV: brothers; Chris (Tessa) Stull of Parkersburg, WV, Brandon (Victoria) Stull of Washington, WV: Sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Rose Ann and Darrell Cox of Cincinnati, OH: sister-in-law; Tricia Russell of Ostrander, OH: and mother-in-law; Judy Williams of Delaware, OH: along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Slim was loved by so many, but his Aunt Cheryl (Ross) Smith of Parkersburg, WV and his cousin Jeff “Skeeter” Stull of Coolville, OH were also very close to him and supported him during his life. Slim was preceded in death by his Mom, Suzanne (Ross) Stull and Grandparents, Ed & Corrine Ross and Ralph & Sylvia Stull. Slim was born and raised in Parkersburg, WV, he loved WV and always called it home. He enjoyed fly fishing, kayaking, off-roading and rockhounding, one thing Slim found to be of great value was giving back to others. Other hobbies included making things out of wood, industrial pipe and refurbishing items, but mostly making things and giving them to family and friends. Slim was a member of Cherry Creek Community Church of Portage, MI and the Sundowner’s 4x4 Club. His battle with cancer started in April 2018, he fought hard and long and never gave up! Cancer may not have taken his life, but the aftereffects of the treatment, surgery’s, and constant struggle to maintain nutrition and weight did. After moving to Michigan in December 2014 he began to love exploring MI and finding its hidden treasures, along with a lot of rocks and Jeep trails. Many of his friends have become family. Before his passing his friends led a parade of vehicles by his home with flashing lights, honking horns, everyone hollering “We love you Slim”. It is the things like this that just overwhelmed him with love during this time. Slim would always say, “Get busy livin’!” and that is what he did until the very end. A memorial Jeep ride is being planned in January 2021 to honor his memory in Michigan and a memorial will be held in the of Spring 2021 with his friends and family in West Virginia.
