Ivan Moerman

On 10/03/2019 Ivan Howard Moerman was welcomed into his eternal home by his Lord, his parents Marinus and Margaret (Vander Zee) Moerman, First wife Elsye and sons Wayne and Randy, brother John Daughter-in-law Rebecca Russcher and great granddaughter Charlotte Marone. Ivan was born September 24, 1926, in Kalamazoo, Mi. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1944 where he excelled in playing basketball. He briefly attended Western Michigan University until an injury prevented him from playing basketball. He married Elsye Adams and together they raised four sons, Wayne, Randy, Rick and Terry. Ivan worked for several architectural firms before founding Architectural Building Products in Kalamazoo. He was a co-founder of Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity and was active with that organization for 20 years. After the death of his wife Elsye he married Glennyce Kleis Russcher and welcomed her seven children into his family. Together they founded Briarwood Construction Management. Ivan was a long time member of Second Reformed Church, serving as chairman of the building committee for the new church, as a deacon, an elder and Sunday school teacher. Survivors include his wife Glennyce, children Rick Moerman, Terry (Kathy) Moerman, Glennyce (Michael) Grindstaff, Joel (Karen) Russcher, Gregg (Lynn) Russcher, Todd Russcher, Heidi (Tim) Berry, Joy Russcher and Judy Kleis, 24 grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren,Daughter-in-law Sharon Moerman, sister Ida (Moerman) Verschoof, sister-in-law Jean Moerman and many nieces and nephews. Services will be Tuesday 10/08/2019 at the Second Reformed Church, 2323 Stadium Drive . Visitation from 12 PM - 2 PM, service at 2PM with fellowship time to follow. Rev. Kevin Hart and Rev. Glennyce Grindstaff officiating. In lieu of flowers please remember Ivan with a contribution to the Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity. Per Ivan's wishes cremation has taken place with Avink Funeral Home & Cremation Society assisting the family, 5975 Lovers Ln., Portage, MI 49002. (269)344-5600
