Elizabeth Anne Plasick

Elizabeth Anne Plasick (Kissick) 10-23-1934 - 2-12-2018 Elizabeth Anne Plasick died peacefully on 2-12-2018 at Brookdale Memory Care in Portage, Michigan. Elizabeth (Liz) was a creative person. She loved to garden, paint, weave, sew and listen to jazz music. Elizabeth's creativity and the appreciation of the arts was passed on to her children and grandchildren. Liz could appreciate the mixture of flowers in a garden and their color, texture and fragrance. Liz also cherished and loved her children, son-in-laws, daughter in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elizabeth graduated from Plum High School in Plum, Pennsylvania in 1952. Her memories from high school included Spanish class with her favorite teacher, choir, working in the library, and the yearbook staff. She completed many classes at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and loved the process of writing. Liz enjoyed writing her memoirs and also studied memoir writing at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. Liz was on the Mental Health Board for Kalamazoo County and was highly involved and engaged advocating for those with mental illness. Liz was also involved in forming a group called Keystone in Kalamazoo. Keystone's mission was to provide a safe and comfortable environment where people who receive mental health services can interact and participate in a supportive community. Also throughout her life, Liz participated and had strong political beliefs and loved a good debate. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband Edward Donald Plasick (4-14-2013) and was married to Ed for 53 years. Liz and Ed have 4 children, Kathy (Jon) Clark, Portage, Michigan, Laura Plasick (Alan Rowe), Holland, Michigan, Tom (Kathy) Plasick, Troy, Missouri and Lisa (Marty) Hodges, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Grandchildren Kaitlyn (Jordan) Koster, Jack Clark, Justin, and Jordan Hodges. Two great grandchildren, Tristian and Bryson Koster. Liz made a difference and would tell you that when you look at a person, any person, remember that everyone has a story. Everyone has gone through something that has changed them. Be kind. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed to be made in Elizabeth Plasick's name to Gryphon Place (http://www.gryphon.org/donate). We also want to thank Hospice of West Michigan and A Place for Mom with care of Liz before her passing. Please visit avinkcremation.com to post a memory of Liz. Private funeral services will take place Friday, February 16th at Fort Custer National Cemetery where Elizabeth will be joined with her husband Edward Donald Plasick.
